Welcome to My Blog!

Welcome. My name is Bruce A. Bastien, author of 13 Months. I’m so happy to have you as a visitor to my blog about my new book. This project is very special to me, and I hope to share some of that excitement with you here.

I’ll be using this blog to interact with you about 13 Months, expanding on some of the topics in it and blogging on some of the ideas related to my book. This is a great place for you to get to know me, and I’m looking forward to getting to know you, too. What did you think of 13 Months? What questions do you have for me? How do you relate to my book?

I’ll be returning here frequently with new posts and responses to feedback from you. Until next time, tell me a little bit about yourself.

  1. Your book looks very good. I was with H&S (81 mortars) and India (as an F.O.). I read the experts and will be purchasing the book. How in the world did you remember all about it to be able to put it down in a book? Thanks for writing it..Jay Grigsby

    • Hi Jay, Thanks for visiting. You’ll get a better, more detailed answer to that in the book but I had a few stories that I remembered and had written down for our website. When I started to write the book and expand on the stories, I remembered other things and in writing about them I remembered more things and it kind of snowballed. To check things, I called and talked with some of the guys who were there and they remembered things. So, with some help and lots of thinking we put together a fairly good timeline and set of stories that went from one to another. I hope as you go through it you will ask questions or tell me where I screwed up. Ha.

I was mostly in 60mm mortars and I really felt sorry for you guys and those “monsters”. They looked BIG and HEAVY. I thought my stuff was big and heavy but there is no comparison. I look at my pictures now and it (my mortar) seems so small and not powerful. When were you there?

      Thanks for writing- Bruce
